Musical Alchemists

Umphrey’s never disappoints. They play a different show every night filled with extended improv jams of original material and the occasional cover. Two full sets plus an encore for 2 1/2 to 3 hours of music. The talent on stage is superior to anybody playing today and they get better every year which is incomprehensible. The Fillmore is a great venue and my only compliant is their recent policy of limiting the size of the audience in the area nearest the stage to 200 via a wristband arrangement. As the concert progressed people were sneaking into the area thereby negating the policy. The Fillmore should go back to the old policy of allowing the audience free access to anywhere throughout the theater. But as for Umph, they have a huge fan base who love the freedom of interaction with the band and each other in an open environment without being restricted to a reserved seating arrangement thus allowing for an interactive experience of the highest order, with highest being the operative word. The best group of musicians touring today. Not to be missed. Ever.
